Had never stopped here before. Read that they have the best O-rings around. So we stopped in. They who said they were the best are correct. Fresh cut and battered, not frozen. Also getting tonight's special. Spaghetti and meatballs. Great choice. Grease meatballs and nice thick sweet sauce.
You can't go wrong by finding this place! Hands down best Bread Pudding you will find ANYWHERE! My husband had the Red Beans and Rice and I had the Hamburger Po'Boy then we had the Bread Pudding!! Best food in the are!!
Review during covid The service was wonderful. The server was very personal and did wear a mask the entire time. Don't let the looks of this place turn you off. It is a smallish building and didn't seem to be open. But it was and boy were we glad! The food was AWESOME. I had a seafood Poboy the SMALL one and I could only eat half (and I can EAT!) my hubby had the catfish Poboy and said it was also delicious. My son had a cheeseburger and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Really really good food, very plentiful. I ordered a soup (shrimp and corn chowder and it was so flavorful and full of shrimp) because I was worried I might not get enough to eat. As soon as I saw the plate I started laughing. We will definitely return when coming back through this area! 5 glowing stars!
Portside Is the Right Side At least in this case. Been passing this place up for years and only judged it from the cover. Once someone referred it to me as being highly reviewed, I decided to try it. I'm glad I did because now I'm a fan. I tried the fried oyster plate with coleslaw and potato salad, cup of gumbo, and boiled shrimp. The oysters were fried to perfection, plump, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Delicious. Seafood gumbo served in a literal coffee cup, way larger portion than traditional serving cups. This is good gumbo. The boiled shrimp were right on target. I don't judge food based on the price nor the quantity nor the service, though all of the aforesaid was impeccable. If it taste good, that's what I base it on. No mater what side of the ship you on, don't pass up any of the sides this place happens to be on from your direction.
Found this spot to eat driving home from Florida to Texas and I have to say this was one of the best stops I made! It's a small place with a lot of hidden quality. The service is great for a walk in and seat yourself place. The staff is so wonderful and really gives the place a comfortable home-y feeling. We stopped for the gumbo, which was great, and ended up trying a bit of everything. Overall, the whole menu is savory across the board. We were also pleasantly surprised by how large the portions were. We even picked up some gumbo to take back home, which they happen to sell by the gallon! It's a must stop spot if you find yourself in the area. You can't go wrong with anything here and you'll definitely get a full plate. And you can't do better than the southern hospitality these wonderful people provide.
